HIS VIEWS with Mark Harris

It has been said that a person can live for seven days without water, and forty two days without food, but can’t live for one second without hope.  In most dictionaries, hope is defined as an emotion based on faith in something that is possible.  Personally, hope is the thing that keeps me getting out of bed every morning, looking forward to what the journey holds.  I HOPE for so many things in life.

I wake up in the morning hoping that the day will be spent well.  Sir Francis Bacon said, “Hope makes a good breakfast but a bad supper”.  In essence, he was saying that hope is looking ahead, not looking back with regret.  It is good to be reminded that we must hope for the future but live in the moment so that we don’t miss the now!

As a husband, I hope for a great marriage that never loses its sense of newness.  I hope my wife never gets bored with me, and I hope I never get bored with her. I hope that we avoid a mundane mutual existence. I hope that we can always laugh together. I hope that we experience rich and wonderful romance together throughout our lives.

As a dad, I hope for BIG things for my kids today and tomorrow. I hope that my children will not settle for one bit less than what God has for them. I hope that they both will not only dream, but that they will dare to dream “Big” dreams. I hope that my son and daughter will be solid in their faith and have no doubt what they believe and who they believe in.  I hope so many things for both of them every day of their lives!!

I have seen people without hope. In them, there is no wide eyed wonderment. I love the image of a child on Christmas Eve, so full of expectation and excitement. I have often said that at the end of my journey through this world, I hope my memories are ones of joy and not of regret. I must live every moment to the fullest and let my hopes for tomorrow keep me like a child on Christmas Eve, full of hope for what is coming next.
